Farewell to Ann Curry

I have admired Ann Curry’s work and her quiet charm ever since the first time I saw her on the Today Show behind the news desk many moons ago. That, I thought, it what a morning news show should be about. NEWS.

I’ll admit it’s been a long time since I’ve watched the Today Show. But, then I don’t watch morning television at all.

I don’t typically turn my television on until late in the evening. The rare times I do watch a morning show it is usually Good Morning America and I am watching strictly to see some piece or performance that they’ve promoted on one of their prime time shows that I do watch.

Perhaps that is the real problem for the Today Show. NBC’s flailing rating in prime time don’t provide the helpful lead-in needed to get people watching the Today Show the following morning.

Whatever the real reason behind the Today Show losing their 16-year-run as top of the morning show mountain, it is unfortunate that Ann Curry must take the fall.

Here’s hoping she lands somewhere that will be a great fit, where she’ll find joy in her work and peace of mind. I’m sure the $10M farewell present they gave her will help soften the blow.
