Roxanne Ravenel is a freelance journalist. She pens smart, sexy, multicultural women’s fiction as her alter ego, Reese Ryan. Her debut novel, Too Good to Be True, will be published by Carina Press in 2013.
Roxanne is also Managing Editor at AllThingsGirl.com where she writes essays, does celebrity, artist, and entrepreneur interviews, and writes about arts & culture, music, movies, literature, and travel.
Roxanne has long been entranced by the power of the written and spoken word. Her early writing heroines include Judy Blume, Paula Danziger, Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, and Erma Bombeck.
Roxanne is especially fond of stories about women on a journey of self-discovery. This theme is often reflected in both her fiction and non-fiction writing. She suffers from an interminable case of monkey mind which is why she’s usually working on several projects at once.
A native of The Cleve (refer to her favorite 30 Rock episode for clarification), she lived in Northeast Ohio for 39 years mainly because of the copious amounts of fresh water; the vibrant arts and cultural scene, and one of the most amazing symphonies in the world. She moved to The Triangle Area in North Carolina in 2009 along with her husband and young adult son.
Roxanne’s childhood dream was to become a writer. Her adult reality was far different. In retrospect, she now realizes that the past twenty years of observations, experiences, joys and disappointments have provided her with the inspiration that will fuel a lifetime of stories.
